The AFZ website is currently under redevelopment - please check back after 19 June 2009, as we are in the process of overhauling our website to make it more exciting, more user-friendly and more informative!
Welcome to Australian Football Zimbabwe!
Thankyou for visiting the official website of Australian Football Zimbabwe. We are currently in the process of formalising plans to implement Australian Rules Football as not only a fantastic option for sport and recreation, but also as a powerful way to make positive changes in peoples lives in Zimbabwe. Not only will we be focussing our resources on football itself, but we will also be working with various Children's Homes across Zimbabwe as well as our Street Kids program. This program is designed to give homeless children and adolescents a new start in life through participating in sport and making use of the facilities that will be provided by Australian Football Zimbabwe, including nutritious meals and free medical advice from qualified medical personnel. As the sport grows in Zimbabwe, we will also be developing a national team, known as the Crocodiles, and once again, this team will allow players from all walks of life to come together as one to play for their country. We trust that you will find this site informative and if you have any questions or comments, please email us at info@zimfooty.com

Helping others to lead a better life
AFZ aims to combine sport with social initiatives in order to provide participants with the best possible contribution to their lives. In some cases, such as the Children's Homes and Street Kids programs, these can mean experiencing things that the children would never have been othwise able to, such as having access to a nurse to help give preliminary medical advice, right through to giving teenagers the chance to look towards being able to represent their country. Australian Football Zimbabwe - Sponsors Needed!
Australian Football Zimbabwe is currently looking for sponsors to be able to help out in any way possible. There are also naming rights being offered to the major sponsor which presents an excellent opportunity for an organisation to positively promote themselves in the community as AFZ will be getting media coverage in both Zimbabwe and Australia, and also has a huge growth potential. For more detailed information, please refer to the sponsorship page, or email us at info@zimfooty.com
Australian Football at the 2011 All-Africa Games: An ideal scenario!
With Aussie Rules football already at an advanced level of development in South Africa, and Australian Football Zimbabwe planning to establish the game in 2009, the 2011 All-Africa games in Mozambique would present an attractive opportunity to showcase the sport to a massive audience Africa wide. Logistically speaking, both Zimbabwe and South Africa border Mozambique, thus making transport costs much lower, and meaning that the stage would be perfectly set for an exhibition match between Zimbabwe and South Africa. This would mean that the sport would have been active in Zimbabwe for over two years, allowing the national playing group to firstly be selected and then continuously be developed into a cohesive playing group.
A healthy level of participation will have also been attained in both primary and high schools in Zimbabwe, and to gain coverage of this sport at the All-Africa games will only make these participants even happier to be playing Aussie Rules, as well as enticing larger numbers of children and adolescents to join in playing this fantastic new sport in their country.
Looking towards future programs in schools
In the future, Australian Football Zimbabwe will be aiming to promote Australian Football in Zimbabwe through school, children's homes and open days. Australian Football Zimbabwe (AFZ) will strive to be a positive influence within the community by working to provide children and teenagers with a very enjoyable sport that anyone can play!
Australian Football is already at an advanced stage of development and participation in South Africa, and we feel that this can be replicated in Zimbabwe, with AFZ planning placing an emphasis on community development and benefiting disadvantaged children. Everyone, regardless of their background or problems they face, will be able to participate in the AFZ programs.
